What Do Accountants Actually DO These Days?

Once apon a time, Mr and Mrs Small Business would take their records to their accountants – who would enter the info, categorising it correctly as they went, and then ensure tax filing was undertaken. These days, YOU do all the work while your accountant makes money recommending an accounting software package and banklink to you (which you have to pay for every year). YOU type in all your invoices and receipts, and balance all of that against your bank accounts. YOU send the accountant a file, which they use to create a full set of accounts, which are then electronically filed with the IRD (this process, by the way, takes about one to two hours). But hang on – doesn’t that mean your accounting bill should be LESS? Compare what you're doing to NZ Accounting clients, who: - Spend on average around two hours a year filing invoices and receipts for the accountant; - Get eight hours one-on-one every year with their accountant; - Get their taxes filed on the day they drop their records off to NZ Accounting; - And pay up to 50% less for it. How do we do it? NZ Accounting does things the old-fashioned way - which happens to be faster and cheaper for the client, and actual real work for the firm. Our clients DON’T spend hours every month entering monthly expenses into an accounting software package. Instead, they throw their receipts into a shoebox along with bank statements and IRD correspondence – and don’t even bother opening the mail. NZ Accounting takes care of all of that – one of our clerks will meet with you at GST time and we’ll enter the receipts together. Which also means any GST or tax filing that needs doing is done on the day - so it's all out of the way. Too simple? It was the genius Albert Einstein who said: "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler." In other words, keep it simple, genius! (or KISG for short) I rest my case.
